BATTLE OF ACES

Tech’s top ranked and defending national championship team improved their record to 2-0 on the season with 7-0 sweep over No. 29 South Florida. The Bulls were 6-0 before heading to Atlanta to face off against the Jackets. The win increases the Jackets consecutive winning streak to 18 dating back to last season and their home winning streak to 22 dating back to the 2006 season. With the second consecutive sweep, the Jackets have now won every single point they have played this season.

Women’s basketball comes up short against Duke

The women’s basketball team lost its second straight game against a ranked ACC foe, falling against Duke at home, 73-47.

Men’s tennis beats Lipscomb, Gardner-Webb

The men’s tennis team got the season off to a 2-0 start when they swept Lipscomb and Gardner-Webb last weekend at home. The team hopes to continue its success and extend a streak of no points lost.

Men’s basketball wins in OT at Virginia

Coming off a big road win against N.C. State last Wednesday, Tech took their two-game conference winning streak to John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA to take on Sean Singletary and the Cavaliers. They won, 92-82 in overtime.

Swim team tops Vandy, Emory

The Tech Swimming and Diving team finished up their season against Emory and Vanderbilt last Saturday. The men competed against just Emory, doubling their score and cruising to a 182-91 victory. The women faced both Emory and Vanderbilt and won by even larger margins of victory, topping the Commodores 193-88. They defeated the Golden Eagles 167-78.

Hockey sweeps UGA for first time since 2002

While Tech’s record may indicate a disastrous season, their success against UGA may have helped salvage the year. Early season injuries left the team with a lot of inexperience on the ice at times and that led to a 2-11 record.
