Baseball extends win streak to seven games

Coming off a series sweep of the Boston College Eagles last weekend, Tech looked to continue their five-game winning streak against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. Tech won the game against ETSU in a come-from-behind victory, 13-6.

Two wide receivers leave the football team, Shaw arrested

Speculation ran wild at the beginning of the semester when freshman receiver D.J. Donley decided to transfer from Tech. Donley was afraid his position, receiver, would not fit into new coach Paul Johnson’s triple option offense. Donley recently picked Purdue as his destination; he will be ineligible for playing this fall but can play the following season due to a NCAA rule that forces transfers to sit out a year before playing for their new team.

Softball falls to UNC in two games

Tech’s softball team fell to University of North Carolina in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday. Their third game was rained out and will not be made up. The Jackets’ record fell to 15-23 overall and 2-6 in the ACC. The losses not only ended a five game winning streak started two weeks ago, but began Tech’s ninth losing streak of the season.

The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed on campus this weekend, hosting the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the George C. Griffen track. The event was cut short, however, as inclement weather moved into the area.

Men's tennis team falls to Wake Forest, 5-2

Tech’s men’s tennis team fell to Wake Forest on Sunday up in Winston-Salem, N.C., 5-2. This drops the Jackets overall record to 11-9 and 1-6 in ACC play.
