The video game Rock Band debuted in November of 2007. In the most contentious year of gaming thus far, the game still proved to be popular and successful. While the game came out only a month after its competitor Guitar Hero III, many fans adopted Rock Band in favor of the former.

Golden Compass directs viewers to new realm

A stunning performance from last year, The Golden Compass was a delight on screen for movie-goers. Set in a parallel world from the imagination of Phillip Pullman and his novel Northern Lights (The Golden Compass in North America), the first of the trilogy His Dark Materials, the story starts by introducing Lyra Belacqua, played by new actress Dakota Blue Richards, who lives in a world comparatively similar to our own except for one overtly obvious difference: all humanoid souls exist externally to the host body in a quasi-independent animal form called a daemon.

99X’s Mistle Toe Jam heats up the holidays

The year 2007 has come and gone, but it hasn’t been 2008 long enough to forget some of the things that brought us pleasure prior to the close of the year. Chief among those was the last major concert of the year, 99X’s Mistletoe Jam (MTJ). The concert was held at the Arena at Gwinnet Center, which given the sellout crowd was probably the best place to hold it. This year the marquee listed the Silversun Pickups, The Shins, Silverchair and the headliner, Modest Mouse.
