Sting Break 2008

The afternoon was stifling as I sat surrounded by the commotion of tech crews lifting metal partitions and cases of Red Bull. All around there were tents filled with flat screen TVs blaring the latest in gaming technology. Off in the distance there was a looping carnival ride for the brave of heart. This year’s Sting Break 2008, designed to give the Tech student a brief hiatus from the rigors of study, included performances from Cartel and OK Go. Indie Team Picture proves perfectly pathetic

Tech may not be known for being an artsy school, but I feel as though I have enough sense to be able to tell when a movie is great. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, Black Christmas and Halloween have all received Hollywood facelifts within the past five years. While some remakes are fun and refreshing, most notably Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead, others feel unjustified or just plain stupid.

Two Bits

For one final hurdle, all graduating seniors have to endure a roughly 70-80 hour graduation ceremony at the Georgia Dome. We might as well have some fun. Everyone needs to sneak a flask filled with your favorite beverage under your gown so that you can participate in the “Final Salute to President Clough” drinking game.
