OUR VIEWS Hot or Not

HOT: Rock the vote

The Student Center was taken over by elderly poll operators and young hopeful citizens this Tuesday as America continued the race towards November. The 496 who voted were treated to an improved layout over last year's sneakily hidden polls on the second floor of the Commons, and for those who ween't registered, two campus fraternities were doing their civic duty by providing registration services.

NOT: Lost lawn access

After dried fountains, state-wide prayer and "shower buddies", the drought has levied yet another tax upon the Tech student body. In order to conserve water and hopefully still have a lawn this summer, all campus green spaces have been restricted. This means no Sting Break or Greek Week activities in Yellow Jacket Park, but hopefully the restriction will be lifted by the time summer rolls around.

HOT: High success rate

The campus emergency alert system testing results are in, and the results are encouraging. Less than two percent of the calls made during the test didn't make it through, the majority of which were caused by carrier difficulties. And really, if everyone else is receiving a call, those two percent should understand.

NOT: Prism problems

Prism crashed late Monday, throwing hoards of CS majors, library users and TAs into a panicked state of data loss. Those without thumb drives were left without any way to save their information. In true Tech fashion this caused a flurry of emails, many late assignments and a few tantrums.
